July is dead! Long live socks!

Why, yes, I do like the flickr toys.  Why do you ask?
And even though these socks aren’t supporting any kind of myth-infused body of state, they’re still a pretty good way to celebrate the July that is no more.  How that happened, I have no idea.  Why is it that the amount of work to be finished is inversely proportional to the amount of time availabe to finish said work?  Alas.  Time management is still something I struggle with.  I’m not yet covered in post-its, but I probably should be.  And I’m buying beer today.
So, the knitting.  These were my July socks for the Interweave SockAlong and I managed to finish them just a few days into August.  Score!  The pattern is free, find it: here.
The yarn, Colinette Jitterbug, is sooooo lovely.  I’m in lurv lurv lurv.  The moss colorway is gorgeous — with the greens, the rust and red patches — and is really soft.  I’m definitely going to use it again, even though the yardage is a bit short.  No problem for this pattern, with a slightly shorter cuff, but it could be an issue for other socks.  Like these.
Anyway, my only mods on the socks were at the cuff and toe: I only did the right twists in the k4 panels and added one more row of plain ribbing before starting the leg pattern to keep the intervals intact; on the toe, I just did a wedge toe, decreasing to 28 stitches — instead of the recommended 8 stitches — because my feet just aren’t that pointy.
I’m still considering my August socks.
Here are the specs:
pattern: Seduction Sock (Interweave, ravelry) by Ann Budd
yarn: Colinette Jitterbug in moss, approx 85 grams
needles: US2/3.00 mm circs
started:  July 9, 2008 (edited)
finished: August 5, 2008
mods: cuff and toe, just for preference

  1. Gorgeous socks! The green reminds me of sea glass. I’m a bit afraid to try Jitterburg b/c of the skimpy yardage and the large size of my feet (9). But the colors are always so beautiful. 🙂

  2. *sigh* I love that colorway. Beautiful.

Also, the work thing? They give you tons of work in little time on purpose. It’s a conspiracy.

  3. Love the socks! Jitterbug is one of my favorite socks yarns ever. I have got to start playing with the flickr toys. That’s a neat-o mosaic (?).
