To be accurate, this particular bright idea is the product of a whole series of bright ideas:
1) don’t follow the pattern
2) use whatever needle is to hand for the ribbing
3) blithely knit on despite obvious lack of snugness

So this is the new pattern I worked up: topographical socks. They knit up pretty quickly and look good with self-striping or hand-painted yarn (if I do say so myself). This pair is off to my sister to enjoy. Not that she needs wool socks in southern [...]
These are some relatively antique mismatches that eluded blogging by virtue of having been completed while visiting my sister in California. Her apartment was very dark.
